kepler server decommissioning
The server kepler.berkeley.edu is being decommissioned and replaced with an upgraded server. Users of kepler should have received email announcements with new login instructions for updating websites hosted at the DECF.
Beginning Jan. 15, 2021, users should be logging in to the new server. Contact consult@newton.berkeley.edu if you need assistance.
Campus datacenter power upgrades complete – DECF servers operating normally
The campus datacenter power upgrade is now complete, and the DECF servers are returned to normal operation.
Campus datacenter power shutdown January 2-3, DECF servers offline
Power to the campus datacenter will be shut down January 2-3 for upgrades. During the power shutdown, DECF servers must be powered down, which means that websites hosted at the DECF will not be accessible.
DECF Server Upgrade
We are currently in the process of upgrading our servers from CentOS 6 to RHEL 8 to comply with campus IT security standards.
Users will receive a notification when they will need to sign into the new server to edit their websites. Users will be required to use the campus VPN software to log in to the new server.
DECF instructional computer labs closed
The DECF instructional computer labs in Etcheverry Hall are closed until further notice to comply with campus safety regulations.
